Russ DeBord is the new Lead Pastor of Sunset Chapel. He and his wife Shari have been married for 26 years. They have three sons Calvin, Randall and Carrick (who ascended into heaven at age 19). Russ has been in full time ministry since 1982. His previous ministry involvements include youth ministry in both Florida and Indiana, and as a Senior Pastor in churches located in Ohio. He also served as the Ohio District Council Church Planting Director.
Russ and Shari moved to Miami the final week of May 2009 to begin leading Sunset Chapel. They moved into the Kendall area not knowing anyone in the community. As they embarked on this new opportunity they are launching with the current ministry team a revitalization effort for this fantastic church.
Russ takes complex issues and presents them with unique insight. Each weekend he shares the life-changing message of the Bible in creative, practical ways with humor and relevance. He is constantly dreaming of ways Sunset Chapel can create environments that inspire, celebrate life and prepare us to face each day. His personal manner is humble and kind. Russ is a spiritual leader who creates an atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
